The "Road Trip Ride" Story

Jerry Tabb, the man whose name the Jerry Tabb Memorial Trust carries on, was killed in an automobile accident in 1996. Jerry, who was very active in his community, had worked as a title insurance agent for 16 years. He was the Vice-President at Coffelt Land Title Company at the time of his death, was actively as a member of the Harrisonville Kiwanis and was a charter member of the Cass County Elks Lodge #2791.

Perhaps his most proud affiliation however, was being active with the youth of our area through his role as a member and counselor for the Cass Career Center (CCC) Advisory Committee f
or Marketing. Jerry believed that success could be achieved through the mix of hard work, perseverance and the right opportunity. In honor of Jerry’s extensive work with, and love for the youth in his community, the Jerry Tabb Memorial Trust Scholarship was formed in 1997. This $4,000 scholarship is now awarded annually to a Cass Career Center graduate, helping to provide that ‘right opportunity’ Jerry believed in.

For 11 years, the ‘Road Crew’ - committee members for the scholarship - have planned and held the annual ‘Jerry Tabb Road Trip’ Orienteering Event, which has traditionally served as the s
ole fundraiser for the Scholarship Trust. This year, in hopes of getting new demographics of our community involved with the scholarship, we are adding the 1st annual ROAD TRIP RIDE, a motorcycle scavenger hunt.
